Who Wants a T-Pain Come Back?? + 5 o’clock in the Morning (Video Review)

Revolver Album ArtT-Pain has released several 1st official singles of his latest work “Revolver” stretching back to “Take Yo Shirt Off”, released in 2009. However they have all been dubbed promotional singles due to low chart position. The proper set up for this album looks to be impossible as he continued with 3 more Official 1st Singles “Reverse Cowgirl” (2010), “Rap Song” (2010), and “Best Love Song” ft. Chris Brown (2011) which all failed to create a buzz for the album. More recently, July 2011, the 5th dubbed promotional single Young Fyre produced “Booty Work (One Cheek At a Time)” was released, which was the  first single I’ve known to get local radio play. Since its release “Booty Work” has managed to peak at #44 on the Hot 100 and #35 on the Hot Hip-hop and R&B charts, not much better then previous Official 1st/Promo singles. Fast forward 2 years after ‘take Yo Shirt Off” to the 6th single of the album “5 o’clock”, T-Pain’s sixth shot at launching promo for Revolver. Is this acceptable for such an established, and previously successful artist as T-Pain? Who is Really Ready for a  T-Pain Comeback??

The Result: 5 O’clock ft. Wiz Khalifa, Lily Allen

“It’s five o’clock in the morning” Lily Allen sings/speaks resembling the voice on the fancy speaking alarm clock my mom owned when I was younger. Already the song has unique feel to it due to the genius of T-Pain’s production. He finds a way to incorporate such a soothing voice with a synthesized harmonies and a R&B beat creating, A Beautiful Outcome!! The video keeps up with the song, taking you on journey as T-Pain wanders the streets alone searching for his love interest. While Lily Allen remains indoors appearing distraught, anxiously awaiting his arrival. T-Pain & Wiz Run In. The two nicely dressed men, in Winter apparel and Jay’s to match, bump each other causing T-Pain to drop his transparent iPhone which displayed a text from Lily. Wiz then runs through his verse while Pain runs the rest of the way home to find Lily waiting for him in bed…..

Will This be Enough to Properly Launch Promo for Revolver??

Does DOA = Death of T-Pain’s Career?? What do you think?

Update: 5 o’clock has rose 5 slots on the chart, peaking at #20

Beyonce Party (Video Review) + Possible Video Anthology DVD

Beyonce released her 3rd video for the month of October!! “Countdown” and “Party” have become the official 3rd and 4th singles of 4 respectively, while “Love On Top” has been dubbed a  promo single. The battle has begun, and “Countdown” won the weekending 10/18/2011 charting 2 positions above “Party” at #85 . Now that both songs are assisted with videos, a fair chance, lets see which can reached top 5 status first.  “Party” will make 6 of the 13 tracks from the album 4 which have released videos, while there are only 4 official singles. Reminiscent of the B’day era should we expect a 4 Video Anthology DVD?? Frequent release and video:song proportion tell me YESS!! Stay tuned for updates…

Video Review

The video is best explained as one big Party. Everyone’s having fun, dancing, and enjoying themselves as Beyonce dominates the party girl title. Virtually shutting down every female  in the party with her drop dead outfits and Best thing I Never hadish hair amongst other styles. Cameo appearances from Solange and Kelly Rowland make the party that much more realistic, however the setting being the backyard of trailer does not. The only thing missing is the hot fire lines of the rap mogul Andre 3000, which was replaced by J. Cole’s verse for the video. The two had very little interaction, and the collaboration seemed last minute and forced due to the fact the song was perfect before. However, the colors and creativity of the video captured youth with a 90’s twist, which has always looked good on Bey. Check and see for yourself..
